How we source
Every recovery timeline, activity restriction, and symptom description on PostOp Eyes follows the same rules:
- Every clinical claim is cited. Sources are listed at the bottom of each page with the date we accessed them. We draw from the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the National Eye Institute (NEI), specialty societies such as the American Society of Retina Specialists and the Glaucoma Research Foundation, the FDA, and peer-reviewed literature indexed on PubMed and the NCBI Bookshelf.
- Ranges, not promises.Published guidance describes what happens for most people. We write it that way: "most people can drive within 24 to 48 hours" rather than "you can drive tomorrow".
- Expectations, not diagnosis. We describe what recovery typically looks like and which symptoms published guidance treats as warning signs. We do not diagnose, adjust medication, or tell you your case is fine.
- Your surgeon outranks this site. Surgeons legitimately vary their instructions based on the eye in front of them. Where common guidance differs between sources, we say so and show both.
- Warning signs on every page. Each procedure carries a sourced list of red flags that mean same-day contact with your surgeon, shown on every page of that procedure's guide.
