When can I go back to work after SLT laser treatment?

SLT is an outpatient laser, not an incision. BrightFocus Foundation notes that laser surgery for glaucoma does not require hospitalization or any change in daily activities. The Glaucoma Research Foundation says people can generally resume their normal routine the next day after laser surgery, and specifically for SLT suggests taking it easy for a day or two and then returning to your daily routine.

Same-day work is the tricky part. Vision may be blurry for a couple of hours per the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and you were told to have someone drive you home, so most people treat the procedure day itself as a partial day off rather than a full workday. Desk work later that afternoon is often fine; a job that depends on sharp vision or driving usually is not.

If your job involves heavy physical labor, dusty or dirty environments, or eye protection requirements, ask your ophthalmologist directly before going back. Published patient sources do not set a specific limit for those situations, and your surgeon's instructions override general guidance.
